For the size, price and easy installation (i took it to my local al & ed's to install for $50) this sub rules! my boyfriend has the same one in his gti or i decided to purchase one for my audi a4 to install in the trunk. Because the gti is an open interior it definitely is louder and projects more sound that in the trunk of my audi. When i took it in to install the guy said 'you know this isn't going to be extremely loud in your trunk right? ' i told him i wanted more bass and all around evenly tuned sound, which he told me it would do. It's actually kicks way harder than he said, and i can feel the bass all the way up on my driver's seat. Clean sound, no rattling, and it takes up a tiny corner of my trunk pushed up against the backseats. I listen to a lot of edm and hip-hop, so i need to hear those hidden basslines that only a subwoofer can provide. If you want your car to be heard down the street, this is not for you. I highly recommend to anyone who wants a better sounds system, without having to spend big $, and not alter your existing receiver and speakers especially if you are leasing a car. I was looking for something to just accent the stock speakers in my car. I didn't want to go to the trouble of buying an amp, a new head unit, additional speakers and then the installation! leave that to the real enthusiasts. I just wanted to throw something in the back of my trunk and call it a day. This is as close as you're going to get unless you want to pay someone to do it for you. . After maybe a little under a year owning these, i'm still really happy with the purchase. The bass can really rattle the trunk if you're playing the right kind of music. And it seems to respond well to my adjustments on my mediocre stereo. I have the (additional purchase) switch running to the front of my car, so i can adjust the level. I generally have to keep it around a 3 or 4 (out of 10) or else it's just way too much bass. . It has its faults: the bass gets muddy at high levels - the installation/manual sucked for someone with no experience but was manageable. But again if you're looking for a serious system in your car, all-in-one enclosures like this aren't probably going to cut it. I read all of the reviews here (good and bad), so before i ordered, i already knew what i was getting and what to expect. I knew the installation would be easy and i knew that this sub won't shake neighbors windows. That is exactly what i wanted for my new 2012 honda civic. The audio was good in the car but it did need a bit more bass. I bought the bta8100fhc (with install kit - no need to buy separately) and the remote bass control. I installed the sub this weekend. It took me a while (about 2 hour) because i didn't look up the wiring diagram for my car before starting the install. So i had to spend another 30 - 45 minutes to finish up after verifying the wiring. Taking my dash apart and running the cables from the front to the back and hiding it was the hardest part. I still haven't bolted/screwed the woofer in the truck yet (it's just sitting there). I have one of those plastic trunk trays so maybe that is helping to keep it from sliding all of the place. I think i will eventually screw it down once i finish testing and deciding on which corner sounds best. I ran the cables from the drivers side through the lower panels, under the back seat and to the trunk. I bolted the ground wire on the back of the trunk. Make sure you sand off the paint first. The remote, i ran it from the right side of the back seat and just stuck it under the seat and then under the floor mats to the center console. . At first the sub sounded awful and i could barely hear it. Then after moving it around a bit, tweaking the audio settings and just playing it for about 15 minutes, it sounded a lot better. Now after probably about 5 hours on the sub, it is sounding really good. So i think it needs break in time. I am not sure why because i bought mine used. I was skeptical but i don't see any issues and the money i saved was worth it. I paid total $180 for the sub and remote including shipping (i probably saved around $40 or more). . Overall, i am satisfied with the results. The sub sounds good and adds the bass i needed in the car. You can't hear the sub outside the car, but that's fine with me because i usually don't want others to hear my system. I wanted the car and setup to look/sound low profile. This past weekend (mothers day), we did a bbq and i decided to test the system there. While the sound was good, you could barely hear the sub even when turned up all the way. So this is really meant for closed small spaces (like inside the car). But when you are inside the car and the system is booming, you really feel like everyone outside can hear it too. But when you roll up the windows and step outside, all you hear is very very mild bass (if even that) and you hear the vocals since that is that now be louder because you can lower the bass from your regular speakers. If you touch the car from outside, you do feel the bass pumping though. I would highly recommend this to everyone who is looking to add more bass to their factory system without going overboard. If you want something that you can show off, go with other systems. Only reason i give this 4 out of 5 is because you have to keep adjusting the sub and bass settings when you listen to different types of songs and that the quality of the wiring harness provided is not that good quality. I listen to i wide variety of songs and that's what i have been doing. But i think that should be minimized after fine tuning is done.

I'm well pleased with the belkin pivot wall mount surge protector. It's very well made and fit nicely under my kitchen cabinet behind my coffee maker. The surge protector i replaced was a 6-plug model that simply plugged in over the existing outlet cover. The plug-in ports faced toward the front causing the 3 cords i kept plugged in to get tangled & take up workspace on the countertop. Also the entire surge protector came out of the electrical socket whenever a single cord was unplugged. Thankfully i no longer have those problems. The belkins wall mount surge protector replaces the existing cover & screws directly to the wall receptacle. There is a countersunk screw already in the new unit. I backed it out a bit, plugged the surge protector into the wall receptacle then tightened the screw back in place. The pivoting plugs are great! i rotated them 90 degrees to the sides so now all 3 appliance cords are hidden behind my coffeemaker freeing up workspace on the countertop . No more tangled cords! the remaining 3 plugs are easy to access for all the other electrical kitchen tools that i use periodically but don't leave plugged in. I really like the cords being flush to the wall; it's a very practical design. The unit has 2 indicator lights: green for protected and red for grounded. It does not have a reset switch which would be nice but isn't an issue for me since it's downline from a gfci receptacle that trips if overloaded. The belkin 6-outlet surge protector comes with a lifetime warranty and a $50, 000 connected equipment warranty. Some reviewers said the company only honors this with a valid receipt so i made sure to print and file the invoice just in case i need it in the future. I'm very happy with the product & really love the pivoting plugs. I originally bought this to use to hook up my christmas village houses all on one power strip and i am extremely happy with it! there are 4 stationary outlets in the center and 8 outlets that rotate on the sides. I love the rotating outlets because some of my plugs have bulky ac adaptors and some are just standard plugs so it's great to be able to alternate every other outlet with ac adaptors and standard plugs so i don't waste one outlet. On previous power strips i've used, the ac adaptors always end up covering up other available outlets and i didn't get maximum use of it. Not so with this one! . . The 8 foot cord is also very well made, thick, and sturdy. To turn it on, you simply press the button at the top. It does have a spot for a phone jack as well, but i haven't used it. The entire unit is excellent quality and i feel confident that my items are protected from power surges. In fact, the company even provides a warranty should a power surge fry your electronics, but there is a lengthy list of exclusions included in the literature, so not everything is totally covered. . This is the best surge protector that i've bought over the years and i like it so much that i plan to buy another one for my laptop and tv electronics.

In this photo you will see that i have it in a tight corner with a kindle power adapter plugged in, as well as a couple of other cords. The 1080 joule protection provides some protection for the things that i plug into it. Belkin has a chart here on online store on the joule suggested for different types of items. The surge protector can be secured to the wall by using a provided screw which replaces the center screw in the normal wall outlet cover.

This thing replaced a standard power strip that had been in service for a long time. I use this power strip under my workstation to power a computer along with all of its peripherals, a lamp, and a small assortment of test equipment and smaller chargers. I really love the swiveling outlets on the side because they allow for various sizes of wall wart style adapters to be plugged in in fairly close proximity to each other without too much crowding. I am also able to get at them without too much fuss to unplug and plug in various things when i need to. . If i did have to complain, it would be that it came with a lot of cord. For what i am using it for, just a couple of feet would have done the trick, but someone else might be able to use that long of a cord. It is better that it is too long than too short and it certainly is not worth giving it a less than perfect score.

I have updated this review. . I have been running this head unit, 149bt for roughly a year and am still amazed by it. I have it installed in my semi, and normally work four or five days a week. In that period, this radio is never turned off. All of the features work without issue, bt is rock solid, as are the rest of the features. Honestly, this is the best alpine stereo i have ever owned. And the way it works with my iphone and macbook pro is just fantastic! audio streaming, controls, tune it ap, all work without a hitch. Just incredible. . This hu is the source for my 3400 watt system. 3 polk class d amps, powering 6 polk mm speakers and one 10' re audio sub. Everything has been rock solid and sounds incredible. The alpine tune it ap is the bomb! it really allows me to get the most out of this system. ; -). . What i really appreciate, is how alpine layed out the screen on the face of the unit. The date feature is a godsend when doing paperwork, which i do allot of. Then the clock/time, it is yuge! fantastic when going down the road running time sensitive freight. Just a glance is all it takes, no squinting! . . The bt that some complain of, i use bt daily and have had no issues. Where i use the bt and even the fact that it immediately picks up my iphone 6 is the amazing part. I'm a truck driver, go into a truck stop and check out all of the bt devices within range. I may be sitting inbetween twenty bt devices found in the trucks surrounding me. My bt headset will not even connect to my phone with all of this activity around me, but the alpine 149bt will. . The other feature that i use daily is the record function on the xm sat side. I like my news programing on the patriot channel, breitbart news to be exact. It is so nice to stop the show, the radio will do this if you get a phone call too, which is way cool. I can stop the show if i need to get out of the truck, or i am backing into a dock, etc. When i am ready, i just hit play and pick up where i left off. Alpine really put some thought into this. . Also with my iphone 6, playing audio aps, the controls on the radio work flawlessly, as it does using the remote that is sold separately. I never have to touch my phone to ff, stop or rr. Same with watching a movie on my macbook pro, it hooks right up with the alpine 149bt. Talk about cool! it is just like being at the house with the 5. 1 system. Yes, you can feel the movies in my truck. Lol! . . Just to many good things to say about this hu, i really cannot say i have any negative comments, at least nothing worth mentioning. Super easy to install. The display is clear and attractive. My favorite thing is that as soon as i turn my jeep on, it will automatically connect to my phone via bluetooth and turn on the most recent player used (usually either google music, podcast addict or slacker). Google music and slacker will resume playing automatically and can be controlled through the head unit. The podcast player will show the current podcast but can't be controlled through the head unit. I haven't tried other podcasters but others may work. The display will also show artist/song/album which is a nice touch. I really like the stereo, but there is one deceptive bit of advertising. The built in pandora source will only work with android phones. You can play pandora through your iphone via the bluetooth audio source fine and dandy, but you will have to control the thumbs up/down and all the other pandora options via the phone. . I know this because i used an android phone on this unit for the first 8 or 9 months i had it, it was awesome to just control everything from the deck. When i got my iphone i tried to get it working the same way and just couldn't, so i called customer support and was told that the pandora source option only works with androids, iphones have to use the bluetooth audio source option or the usb source option. . Thats a small annoyance for what the unit delivers though, its extremely easy to see in any lighting situation, you can read it in direct sunlight! wonderful sound and options for fine tuning. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat, i just wish alpine was more upfront with the pandora information, as i'm sure thats a major selling point for a lot of folks.

I replaced my 15 yr old alpine head unit with this one and all i can say is wow! the hd radio is crisp and clear, and there is plenty of power 50x4 amp. I paired it with upgraded rockford fosgate speakers and a lynx sub woofer and the sound is amazing. Now i need to play with the accoustic settings and fine tune the sound to my vehicle. The bluetooth worked with my old iphone 4, but not consistantly, so looks like a smartphone upgrade is next. I highly recommend this head unit, you will not be dissappointed.
