Reynolds Trombone Serial Numbers

Years and Serial Numbers are Approximate.
Buescher Trumpet Serial numbers are most often found on the 2nd valve casing - OR if that is buffed off, check on one of the valves themselves! Pull out a valve and look on the section just below the button and stem. In MOST Buecher trumpets in the 1950s and earlier, you can find the serial number here as well.
Please see the Bell Logos section to see samples of each Bell Logo.

Reynolds trombone serial numbers

A Reynolds Medalist trumpet in case. The piece features a lacquered brass finish with mother of pearl accents to the keys; and it is marked serial number 262508. It includes two silver tone mouthpieces and is stored in a Yamaha hard case with fabric-lined fitted interior. The predecessor to the trombone emerged not long after it occurred to Medieval Europeans that their signaling devices, which we know today as trumpets, could be used to make music.Trumpets had grown to 6 feet in length, and were first folded into a loop in the Middle Ages, when players of these “natural trumpets” had to adjust their mouths to change the notes. A quick video displaying the basic appearance and functionality of an excellent vintage Reynolds Trumpet from around 1951 or so. *1950 Serial number is different on various sites. so I have listed BOTH numbers, I think the number MORE accurate would be 326000.

Please note that there are a FEW exceptions to this chart.
1) Some of the modern Buescher labeled trumpets from the 1970-present that have serial numbers that do not correspond to this chart. Most seem to have the 'Upsidedown Nike' Bell Logo and are model BU-7. Selmer must have done a serial number 'reset' at some point.

2) I have also noticed some of the 1960s 'Side Scroller' and possibly 'Top Scroller' logoed trumpets/cornets that have serial numbers in the 100,000 range. These obviously are NOT subject to this serial number chart. These are most likely mid to late 1960s instruments.
3) Most (if not all) Buescher trumpets that have the 'ELK' logo have a separate serial number listing. The Valve Block on these instruments are made by Elkhart and thus have a completely different numbering system.

Any Trumpet or Cornet with the engraving of an ELK (see below) will NOT match up on the Buescher Serial number list. They also bear the inscription 'BUILT BY BUESCHER'. These instruments had their OWN serial numbering system. Most were made post World War II possibly up to 1960. If you see one of these horns and the owner is claiming they are from the 1920s or 1930s or before, then they are using the wrong serial number chart. I do not know if an Elkhart Serial number list exists or not.

Big Thanks to Dr Rick's Vinllage Flute and Sax Shop website for providing some of the serial numbers and years produced.
I also gathered information for this page from MusicTrader.com website that cites Albert Mensinga as the source for MANY of the serial numbers.

Because of Mr. White's personal involvement and knowledge of acoustical principles and mechanical experience, he was able to nearly perfect the trombone. From 1894 to 1908 each trombone slide was actually made by Mr. White, and he knew that the secret to the trombone was making the slide as smooth as possible with lightning quick response. The H. N. White King trombone is among the best in the world because of superior craftsmanship, the best raw materials, and the worlds best design. The King trombone was the main stay of the company in the early years and far more trombones were made by The H. N. White Company than any other instrument. The H. N. White Company made the following brands: King, American Standard, Cleveland, and Gladiator (which was produced from 1940-1953) trombones .In 1926-1928 H. N. White introduced Sterling Silver bells to his trombones, which produces better tone, being clearer, richer, with a more pleasing quality. Not to mention some of the best looking bells ever produced in the music industry. Even today H. N. White 'King' trombones are still played in bands all over the country. The H. N. White Company made all of its own trombones and did not stencil any for other companies (that I know of).

You can configure the mouse controls in the DSMfix and the key bindings through in the in-game menu. 3 buttons is what most people have, but 5 buttons is probably the best choice for that game. This page is designed to show the first known year of production (based on my catalogs) and any changes that are made over the production cycle of the instruments including model numbers and any unique specifications. In the production years of 1893-1910 it is important to consider that production of trumpets and cornets stated slowly and that the serial number list may not be 100% accurate, and that the company did not have 'considerable' production until 1905. Please do not get hung up on the serial number list, it is much more important to identify a time frame of when the instrument was manufactured. This page is broken into two parts. The first part is pre 1930, and the second part is post 1930. The reason for the two parts is the confusion of models and model numbers of trombones. It appears that in 1930 there was a reissue of model numbers to the the entire trombone line, and adding to the confusion all trombones were put into new categories with new models.
