Snapper Serial Number

  • To find the model number of your Snapper Lawn Tractor, look for a white tag on the back of the mower, which, on most models, is located just behind the seat. Once you locate the model number, input it into the model field in our Snapper Parts Lookup and it will list the parts pertaining to that model only.
  • If you can find the frame serial number, the first digit is the month, the next 2 are day, and next 2 are year. Ex: 43085xxx April 30 1985, and the xxx is the unit built that day. Looks like a series 4 or 5. The model will have the deck diameter 2 digits, then 2 digits for original engine HP, then the next digit is the series.
  • Enter your Snapper model number below. Click the Search Button to See More Results. Parts lookup for Snapper power equipment is simpler than ever.
  • Go to the Snapper Website, enter your Snapper mower serial number, the engine serial number and search manuals. If no success, google it.
  • To identify your Snapper mower, locate the product identification label on your unit. Click here to locate the product identification label. The product identification label contains the model number and serial number of your Snapper product.
  • Write down the engine number that is stamped into the cover to secure engine parts for your Snapper mower. 5 Call or go online to find parts for your lawn mower or engine, using the appropriate.

I have never seen a listing of Snapper models by year, but that does not mean the info does not exist.

On the Snapper rear-engine riders, the first two digits of the model number were the width of cut. ...Yours cuts a 28' swath.

The next two digits usually signified the hp of the engine. ..Yours was 8hp.

The 'S' in the model number signifies the mower came with an electric starter.

I don't know if the '6' has any special significance, or if it indicates the last digit of the year of manufacture. ...I would guess that your machine was built in the 1980's, so it is quite possibly a 1986 model, but I don't know that for certain.

Hopefully, someone else will be able to answer more precisely. ..I got out of the mower business in 1983, so I am not very familiar with the models made after that.

If you have a B&S engine, the first two digits of the CODE number are the year of engine manufacture. ..The next two digits indicate the month. ...Of course, if the engine is not original to the mower, that will not help date your Snapper.

If you have a Tecumseh engine, I believe the engine can also be dated by the serial number.
..A Google search should find the info you need to date them.
