Once you have enabled the testingCheatsEnabled true cheat (see above), you can press and hold SHIFT and click on various objects to activate some helpful effects, or to bring up a variety of options you may find useful.

Normally, a visit from the Grim Reaper represents the end for your sim, but you can delay that if you present Death with the Death Flower Bush. To find that rare plant, head to the Pleasant Rest Graveyard and search near the gate. You'll find the flower growing. Harvest it and keep it permanently in your inventory, in case the worst happens. You can use the flower to stave off mortality only once, and the plant doesn't reappear if you check its former location again. However, you can find Special Seeds around the same graveyard where you located the plant itself, which a Sim with a Gardening skill at level 7 can plant to produce additional plants.

Focus on improving your Sim's writing skills. As you start, your Sim will not earn a lot of money from the effort. However, as the skill level increases, new genres are available and your Sim can eventually earn a living writing romance novels. When a book is finished, the Sim receives royalties for several weeks. Max out the 'Writing' skill to generate an income of around 40,000 Simoleons on a weekly basis. Within a few in-game weeks, you should be able to generate steady and substantial revenue in this manner.

Instead of spending time cleaning the dishes, drag an empty plate into your inventory and then drag it over to the 'Sell' option. Though you don't earn money, you will at least get rid of the offensive dirty dish.

To start, you need a pregnant Sim. Then as you feed that Sim, you can increase the likelihood of having a boy with a steady diet of apples, or aim for a girl with a steady diet of watermelons. The number of fruit you eat also seems to determine how many babies of that gender you will have, particularly if paired with the fertility treatment lifetime reward.

Your Sim can make friends easily by learning to play the guitar. First, purchase the required instrument. Practice playing it until the Sim reaches at least 5/10 proficiency. Now the Sim can head to the park and 'Play For Tips.' Do so and keep playing as a crowd gathers. Peopel will become your friends as you continue your performance, which happens more quickly the higher your skill is.

You can acquire new clothes for your Sims, once you have a dresser. Purchase one, then click and select the 'Plan Outfit' option. You can now specify 3 outfits for each type of clothing style (such as formal or athletic).

You can change your Sim's name if you select the City Hall building from the map and choose the option to change your name. However, that option is only available between the hours of noon and 6PM.

You can produce a ghost baby you can then control by carefully completing the following process:

1. Set a female Sim's traits so that she is a Kleptomaniac
2. Visit the graveyard
3. Watch for the Sim to steal some male remains from the vicinity
4. Return home and wait two days, at which point a ghost should appear in the home at 11PM.
5. Visit with the ghost each time it appears, which it should initially do so at the rate of once every other night.
6. Once you become good friends with the ghost, it appears nightly and you can continue socializing until you receive the fertility reward.
7. Confess to the ghost that you are attracted to it.
8. Ask the ghost to snuggle on bed and kiss.
9. Each night, try for a baby until your Sim begins throwing up, which marks the start of a pregnancy that will eventually end with the birth of the ghost's baby.

Access the Options menu and make changes to the gameplay settings. You can uncheck the box that appears ahead of 'Aging' to prevent aging. If you prefer, you can instead modify the lifetime bar, which ranges from 25 to 960 days.
